Sports club — Chess | Riddes, Valais
A chess club rooted in digital
Modern website with game analyzer and autonomous management since 1997
Riddes Échecs is a chess club founded in 1997, based in Riddes in the Lower Valais. With over 10 licensed players registered with the Swiss Chess Federation (FSE), the club actively participates in regional and national competitions, including the Grand Prix du Valais Junior (GPVJ) and the Valais championships.
The club had no online presence despite nearly 30 years of activity. All communication was done through word-of-mouth and local notice boards. Without a website, it was impossible to recruit new members (juniors and adults alike), promote events and competitions, or share game analysis for player development.
Give the club a complete digital showcase that serves as a recruitment platform, an information hub for FSE competitions, and a pedagogical tool with the interactive game analyzer.
Structure definition: 8 main pages covering club, competitions, chess school, game analysis and news. Visitor journey mapping (prospect -> member -> active player).
Modern Astro 5.0 stack with static rendering for optimal performance. Mobile-first responsive design with Tailwind CSS and polished animations.
React Island component integrated in Astro: interactive chessboard, move-by-move navigation, 4 visual themes, Staunton SVG pieces. PGN file import for analysis.
Decap CMS configuration (formerly Netlify CMS) for autonomous blog and PGN game management. The club committee can publish without technical intervention.
Full dark mode implementation (standard in the chess world) with user toggle. Thorough testing on mobile, tablet and desktop.
JSON-LD SportsClub + SportsEvent for Google visibility. XML sitemap, RSS feed for news, and internal linking between site sections.
